4 months separation

October 1858 – January 1859

Lilias greatly influenced by her parents and their 308 pages of letters home during this 4 month period. Her parents and her brother traveled to the USA. 5 year old Lilias learned objectivity and balance from these letters from America. Her mother wrote about her experiences, emotions and observations, while traveling through free and slave states, prior to the American Civil War.
